The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival took place from 14 to 25 May 2019. Here are some highlights of this event:

• The Palme d'Or was awarded to the film "Parasite" by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho, which was praised by critics for its mix of genres and social satire.
• The opening ceremony was hosted by French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and Spanish actor Javier Bardem.
• The jury was chaired by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu, and also included celebrities such as actress Elle Fanning, renowned songwriter Ennio Morricone and Greek director Yórgos Lánthimos.
• Several highly anticipated films were presented, such as Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", Dexter Fletcher's "Rocketman" and Pedro Almodóvar's "Pain and Glory".
• The closing ceremony was hosted by French-Canadian actress Édith Scob, and saw the presentation of several awards, including the Palme d'Or.
